Welcome to the club

The Bamboo Society ("we," "us," "our") runs a social mahjong club at 506 Rutledge Street, Camden, South Carolina 29020. By booking an open play session, signing up for a membership, registering for a class, or buying from our boutique — in person or through this website — you agree to the terms below. They are written the way we talk: plainly, and with care.

1. Who may join

Our club is built for adults. You must be 18 years or older to book a seat, purchase a membership, or buy from the boutique. Minors may attend a private event only with a parent or guardian present.

2. Bookings & open play

Open play sessions are $30 per guest seat. Your seat is held once payment is received. If your plans change, we are happy to move your seat to another session with at least 24 hours' notice. Within 24 hours, we will do our best to accommodate a reschedule but cannot guarantee it. We do not offer cash refunds; instead, a seat credit stays on your account for 90 days.

3. Memberships

Membership tiers (Tile, NEWS, Dragon, and All-Access) are billed monthly or annually as shown on our Memberships page. Monthly memberships renew automatically until you cancel. You may cancel any monthly membership at any time; cancellation stops future renewals but does not refund the current paid period. Annual memberships may be cancelled after your first year. Member pricing on classes, early league booking, and a saved seat are benefits of active membership and end when a membership lapses.

4. Classes & events

Classes are $55 for non-members and $25 for members unless otherwise noted. Class seats are limited and held once payment is received. If we cancel a class, you will receive a full credit or refund, your choice. If you need to cancel, the same 24-hour courtesy window above applies.

5. Boutique purchases

Mahjong sets, tiles, accessories, and club merchandise are sold while supplies last. Prices are listed in U.S. dollars and may change without notice. In-store boutique purchases are final sale except for manufacturer defects. Online orders may be returned within 14 days in unused, resalable condition for store credit.

6. Conduct in the parlor

We keep a warm, welcoming table. Harassment, discrimination, intoxication, or any behavior that makes our members or guests uncomfortable is not welcome here. We reserve the right to decline service or revoke membership, with a prorated refund for any unused paid period, when conduct falls short of this standard.

7. Health, safety & accessibility

You play at your own risk and are responsible for your own belongings. We follow all applicable South Carolina health and safety guidance. Please let our hosts know about any accessibility needs before your visit so we can have the right seat ready for you.

8. Intellectual property

The Bamboo Society name, logo, moniker, tile pattern, photography, and written content are ours. Please don't copy or reuse them without written permission.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above will reflect the most recent change, and continued use of our services after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Kershaw County, South Carolina.
